An attempt to expansively characterize sin or evil is not a possible task, a fool's chore; however we all try to unravel this thick rope to understand the strands that make it what it is. Serial killers are hidden dangers in our society. They look like the average person, and some are even very charismatic. What makes them so dangerous is the seriality of their murders. They don’t stop killing until they are caught or die.  One thing is clear from any global survey of serial murder: the United States, with 5 percent or less of the world's total population, has produced 76 percent of all known serial killers in the 20th century (close to 85 percent since 1980). In serial murder cases, victims die as the offender momentarily gains control of his or her life by controlling others. In law enforcement, serial killing generally means the sexual attack and murder of young women, men, and children by a male who follows a pattern, physical or psychological. However, this definition fails to include many offenders and victims. (Blundell, N. (1996)

A serial killer is someone who kills repetitively and over a period of days, weeks, months even years. There is a cooling off period between the killings. There are four, sometimes five, types of serial killers; Visionaries, missionaries, hedonists and power seekers. The fifth is a type that officially doesn’t have a name but they can be called medical killers. The mass murderer kills several people in a matter of hours and there is no cooling off period.
