A person being found guilty of murder or some heinous crime is by law punished by being sentenced to death. This is actually known as Capital Punishment. It has become a debatable issue worldwide, as people come up in support or against death penalty.
Those in favor of capital punishment do want it to be legally imposed, as they believe that the ones who have committed cold-blooded murders must be sentenced to death. Simultaneously, these extremists are also of the view that those born with criminal impulses have no place in a civilized society, which abides by law and order at all times. However, such groups of people ignore the fact that the one being punished, his family will have to go through a lot of problems, mainly financial. It is not considered by the ones against capital punishment that it is the society and the circumstances around a person that makes him a criminal, as he/she is not born as one.
Capital punishment can be justified only if there would have been a drop in the crime rate. As no such signs are observed, capital punishment makes no justification at being implied at the ones guilty of a heinous crime.
The death penalty is the harshest form of punishment enforced in the United States today. Every year a large number of people go through this punishment, but crime still prevails and criminal activities are carried out. Thus, even after the loss of so many lives has not brought about a change.
